Mosaic.....al dente!!

Many years ago in my previous life I was a nursery nurse & always enjoyed encouraging the children's creativity. Many of the background papers etc I use in my card making comes from my days in the nursery, and one favourite embellishment we used in art was.......PASTA!! Hence the title of this post. Below is my project at the starting point

I started with a small photo mount & some sheets of uncooked lasagne, which I just snapped into different shapes to form the mosaic tiles around the frame. Below - is the completed project

I glued all the mosaic pieces in place with pva glue & once dry I coloured the entire frame with vintage photo DI & built up a few layers of colour ensuring all the 'in-between' parts were completely covered. Finally I spritzed the whole frame with glimmer mist to finish it off.
My insert was made up from black cardstock & one of my all time favourite stamps from
Heritage Rubber Stamp Co and it's in the style of Charles Rennie MacIntoshs' Glasgow Rose
(Heritage 2XLS) I inked it up with versamark & drew some ickle boxes & lined it off beneath the stamp, all in keeping with MacIntosh style, then I dusted with copper tone perfect pearls & used hairspray as a fixitive! A cheap & neat way to create your own mosaic which can then be adaped & coloured to suit your own decor & style..........this one is for Mothers Day & I'll perhaps make a few matching bits to complement it.......watch this space, lol :d
Thanks for visiting & rember to let me know what you think of my project as I love to read your comments
